Dante Media Networking Drives Immersive 3D Audio Experiences at Virginia Tech

The Institute for creativity, arts, and Technology made a multichannel Dante media networking drive. This has 145 loudspeakers for 3D sound and multi-screens.The dimensions of the cube 50 w x40 L x32H. What  I found really interesting is that it's built like a black box theater and used for next generation research. The goal is to achieve a immersive 3D  audio experience. The Dante network was able to handle all the requirements for the cube. The school partnered up with Arup to come up with a way to solve this issue and make it cost effective. One way they were able to be cost effective was they installed Yamaha XMV 8280-D amplifiers that drive 8 speakers from one Dante driver and Date-enabled signal processors. This eliminates the need for on shelf products. I'm excited to see how this research turns out and what new things they discover with sound.
